Introduction: Due to the wide-scale changes and unpredictable issues, urban environments are always faced with various challenges and dangers. Considering this situation, cities should always be ready to deal with all kinds of crises. Accordingly, their resilience is very important. Urban resilience is defined as the ability of urban systems to respond to the stress caused by accidents and rapid reconstruction after that. This issue is more important in big cities due to the location, population and different services. The city of Shiraz is not exempt from this issue. Therefore, planning to improve the resilience of this city, in the first stage, requires a comprehensive understanding of its resilience status, which is emphasized as a goal in this research.
Method: The research method is descriptive-analytical and data collection is through the survey method. The data collection tool was a questionnaire. Its validity was confirmed through elite society and its reliability was also confirmed using Cronbach's coefficient of more than 0.75. The statistical population of the research is made up of specialists in the field of urban management and planning. A total of 110 questionnaires were distributed at the sample level, of which 103 questionnaires were completed.
Results: The result showed that the state of economic, social, environmental and physical resilience of Shiraz city is significant at the level of less than 0.05 and does not have a suitable state. According to the statistical results, the best situation is related to the index of social belonging with an average of 3.148, and the rest of the resilience indicators include social participation, economic vulnerability, economic well-being, environmental health, urban infrastructure, housing quality and urban fabric in a weak state. are known and need attention and promotion. The results of modeling the effect of various factors in promoting and improving the existing resilience of Shiraz city also showed that 17 factors are effective in this field. In this context, the two factors of strengthening the existing building through the restoration of the body and strengthening the foundation with an explanation of 0.99 and the promotion and diversification of small businesses with an explanation of 0.86 have the greatest role.
Conclusion: In general, the resilience of Shiraz city is not good, but some factors and measures can change this situation. These factors include various economic, social, physical and administrative sectors of Shiraz city. In fact, one cannot expect to improve the resilience of this city in a one-dimensional way.
