With the entry of oil companies, the need to build houses for those working in this industry in the areas of exploration and exploitation became necessary. Houses and neighborhoods that did not match the knowledge and local traditions of house building in the region. However, after the construction of these residential neighborhoods, a different approach to urban order and organization of home space was obtained, different from local experiences. Therefore, the question arises: What are the structural and layout characteristics of the residential architecture of oil companies in Khuzestan from a genealogical perspective? In this research, while recognizing the residential architecture of this special period in the history of contemporary architecture, an attempt has been made to examine the structural values of these buildings and to determine how they affected the architectural trend of the Khuzestan region by examining them. The research method is based on case studies of houses and examining the urban planning form of the housing sections of workers in three oil cities (Masjed Soliman, Abadan, and Ahvaz) and is descriptive-analytical in nature, moving from observation to theory through inductive reasoning. In this article, an attempt was made to use a comparative approach, while introducing the urban form and architectural spatialization, to examine the types of urban and housing construction. The results show that the process of developments in post-colonial residential architecture in Khuzestan, despite its different form from traditional and indigenous architecture, is based on climatic innovations from Khuzestan architecture. Also, the shape of the city and housing indicates a significant difference in space and form based on the social class of individuals. However, the main urban context in oil towns is based on Western and modern urban planning, so that in general, the central and checkerboard structure is the main organization of these towns and sometimes it is emphasized by creating three-way intersections.
